Recycling and composting equipment is provided to registered Green Team members by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP). Who is eligible to receive recycling and composting equipment?

All schools registered as Green Team members are eligible to request recycling and composting equipment. A completed application form, signed by the school principal, must be submitted to be considered.

Where can recycling and composting equipment be picked up?

Equipment pick-ups will only take place at the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) State Logistics Warehouse in Franklin, and an appointment must be scheduled in advance.

What if my school is not located near Franklin?

Schools must arrange their own transportation to pick up equipment in Franklin, as pick-up is no longer available in Amherst or Boston.

How can I ensure my application is accepted?

Make sure your school is registered as a Green Team member and that the application form is fully completed and signed by the principal before submitting it.

Is it mandatory to use the signs provided by the Green Team?

While not mandatory, it is highly recommended to use the signs provided by the Green Team, as they are specifically designed to facilitate proper waste management in schools.

How can I obtain signage for my waste reduction program?

The signage is available for free download on the Green Team website and can be used for various waste programs, including recycling, composting, and share tables.

Will the materials be shipped directly to my school?

Yes, all requested Idling Reduction signs and materials will be shipped directly to the school once the application has been processed and approved.

How can I help evaluate the effectiveness of the Idling Reduction program?

After implementing the Idling Reduction materials, schools are encouraged to complete the Idling Reduction Materials Evaluation Form. This feedback helps MassDEP assess the program’s impact and effectiveness..

Certificates of recognition and prizes for participation based on Teacher Response Forms

When is the deadline for submitting the Teacher Response Form?

The deadline for submitting the Teacher Response Form is announced each year and is typically in late March.

What happens if the Teacher Response Form is submitted after the deadline?

If the Teacher Response Form is received after the deadline, Certificates of Recognition will still be sent to the class; however, we cannot guarantee that the class will receive prizes.

Will my class still receive recognition if the form is late?

Yes, your class will receive Certificates of Recognition even if the form is submitted after the deadline, but prize distribution is not guaranteed.
