Hay muchas Eco-Estrellas que hacen maravillas en sus escuelas, y estamos muy agradecidos por los maestros y estudiantes que trabajan para mejorar nuestro medio ambiente. \u00a1En el a\u00f1o escolar 2015-2016, nos complaci\u00f3 destacar a TRECE escuelas inspiradoras!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #5e4f7c;\">Escuela Primaria Captain Samuel Brown, Peabody, MA<\/span><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La Escuela Primaria Captain Samuel Brown y su valiente maestra Diane Bugler recibieron un Premio de Sostenibilidad de Green Schools en los Green Difference Awards 2016. Este premio reconoce a la escuela por tener un historial comprobado de al menos cinco a\u00f1os de excelencia en educaci\u00f3n ambiental. Bajo el liderazgo de su maestra Laurie Boosahda, compraron estas plantas con el certificado de regalo del centro de jardiner\u00eda que recibieron por ser ganadores del Gran Premio de The Green Team. Visitaron la Instalaci\u00f3n de Recuperaci\u00f3n de Materiales de Springfield y la Granja de Compostaje de Martin. Los estudiantes tambi\u00e9n crearon esculturas a partir de basura no reciclable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-image uagb-block-3e742d8e wp-block-uagb-image--layout-default wp-block-uagb-image--effect-static wp-block-uagb-image--align-none\"><figure class=\"wp-block-uagb-image__figure\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thegreenteam.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Screenshot-2024-08-23-163741.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"uag-image-7859\" width=\"276\" height=\"316\" title=\"Screenshot-2024-08-23-163741\" loading=\"lazy\" role=\"img\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Otras tres escuelas en Greenfield comenzaron a recolectar restos de comida en sus cafeter\u00edas para compostaje.&nbsp;<strong>La Escuela Secundaria de Greenfield,<\/strong>que tambi\u00e9n cambi\u00f3 de bandejas y utensilios desechables a reutilizables, redujo la basura de la cafeter\u00eda de 15 bolsas al d\u00eda a solo tres.&nbsp;<strong>La Escuela Discovery en Four Corners<\/strong>&nbsp;est\u00e1 desviando una tonelada de restos de comida y l\u00edquidos del vertedero cada mes.&nbsp;<strong>En la Academia de Matem\u00e1ticas y Ciencias en Green River<\/strong>, el 86% de los residuos de la cocina y la cafeter\u00eda se est\u00e1n compostando. La l\u00edder de la PTA, Jessica Burt, ayud\u00f3 a los estudiantes de segundo y tercer grado a plantar cuatro \u00e1rboles frutales, vegetales y flores. La instructora Stephanie Syre-Hager gui\u00f3 a los estudiantes para vaciar el l\u00edquido sobrante de estas botellas y reciclarlas. El cambio clim\u00e1tico se discute en las clases de 4\u00ba, 5\u00ba y 6\u00ba grado siempre que se relaciona con un tema, como la energ\u00eda, los ecosistemas, los h\u00e1bitats, las ciencias de la tierra o el clima. Incluso integraron este tema en las lecciones de matem\u00e1ticas calculando el \u00e1rea en pies cuadrados de su contenedor de basura. Amy Donovan, del Distrito de Residuos S\u00f3lidos de Franklin, visita regularmente la escuela para educar a los estudiantes, maestros y administradores sobre las 5 R\u2019s (Reducir, Reutilizar, Reciclar, Reducir, Compostar). El director Peter Crisafulli informa que los estudiantes de 6\u00ba grado recolectan el reciclaje de toda la escuela cada semana y lo cargan en 15 carritos de reciclaje. La cafeter\u00eda tambi\u00e9n llena un contenedor de 64 galones con restos de comida, que la granja Bear Path recoge y composta. Wood, Fairhaven, MA<\/span><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00a1El Club de Jardiner\u00eda del Green Team de la Escuela Primaria Leroy Wood en Fairhaven ha estado ocupado! Creado por Kimberly Katz y Martha Plummer, este club ha registrado a 68 estudiantes y 20 voluntarios entre los padres. Han plantado bulbos alrededor del edificio escolar e instalado nuevas camas de jard\u00edn que plantar\u00e1n en primavera. Tambi\u00e9n consiguieron financiamiento a trav\u00e9s de DonorsChoose.org para un nuevo invernadero. Durante el invierno planean explorar plantas, reciclaje y compostaje.
