Cada a\u00f1o, maestros de todo Massachusetts se unen a The Green Team para integrar la educaci\u00f3n ambiental y acciones con sus estudiantes. Escuela Primaria Captain Samuel Brown, Peabody, MA<\/span><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

La Escuela Primaria Captain Samuel Brown y su valiente maestra Diane Bugler recibieron un Premio de Sostenibilidad de Green Schools en los Green Difference Awards 2016. Este premio reconoce a la escuela por tener un historial comprobado de al menos cinco a\u00f1os de excelencia en educaci\u00f3n ambiental. La Academia Mount Alvernia en Chestnut Hill plant\u00f3 flores silvestres para atraer mariposas. Con la ayuda de su maestra Maria Lyons, compraron estas plantas con el certificado de regalo del centro de jardiner\u00eda que recibieron por ser ganadores del Gran Premio de The Green Team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Academia de Matem\u00e1ticas y Ciencias de Greenfield, Greenfield, MA<\/span><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

La Academia de Matem\u00e1ticas y Ciencias de Greenfield plant\u00f3 arbustos resistentes y flores perennes esta primavera. Bajo el liderazgo de su maestra Laurie Boosahda, compraron estas plantas con el certificado de regalo del centro de jardiner\u00eda que recibieron por ser ganadores del Gran Premio de The Green Team. Adem\u00e1s, los estudiantes de 6\u00ba grado han estado investigando sobre reciclaje y compostaje. Visitaron la Instalaci\u00f3n de Recuperaci\u00f3n de Materiales de Springfield y la Granja de Compostaje de Martin. Los estudiantes tambi\u00e9n crearon esculturas a partir de basura no reciclable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Otras tres escuelas en Greenfield comenzaron a recolectar restos de comida en sus cafeter\u00edas para compostaje. La Escuela Secundaria de Greenfield,<\/strong>que tambi\u00e9n cambi\u00f3 de bandejas y utensilios desechables a reutilizables, redujo la basura de la cafeter\u00eda de 15 bolsas al d\u00eda a solo tres. La Escuela Discovery en Four Corners<\/strong> est\u00e1 desviando una tonelada de restos de comida y l\u00edquidos del vertedero cada mes. En la Academia de Matem\u00e1ticas y Ciencias en Green River<\/strong>, el 86% de los residuos de la cocina y la cafeter\u00eda se est\u00e1n compostando. La Escuela Primaria Quinsigamond en Worcester cambi\u00f3 a botellas de leche de pl\u00e1stico en su cafeter\u00eda. La instructora Stephanie Syre-Hager gui\u00f3 a los estudiantes para vaciar el l\u00edquido sobrante de estas botellas y reciclarlas. La escuela tambi\u00e9n celebr\u00f3 su tercer Concurso Anual de Arte Reciclado, as\u00ed como su tercera campa\u00f1a anual de reciclaje de electr\u00f3nicos y metales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Academia Mount Alvernia, Chestnut Hill, MA<\/span><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

La Academia Mount Alvernia en Chestnut Hill ha estado aprendiendo sobre el cambio clim\u00e1tico, las especies en peligro de extinci\u00f3n y la jardiner\u00eda. El cambio clim\u00e1tico se discute en las clases de 4\u00ba, 5\u00ba y 6\u00ba grado siempre que se relaciona con un tema, como la energ\u00eda, los ecosistemas, los h\u00e1bitats, las ciencias de la tierra o el clima. Los estudiantes de 5\u00ba grado realizaron un proyecto en el que compararon fuentes de energ\u00eda renovables y no renovables. Escuela Secundaria de Hull, Hull, MA<\/span><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

La Escuela Secundaria de Hull, liderada por la maestra Sheila Blair, se centr\u00f3 este a\u00f1o en reducir su huella de botellas de agua de pl\u00e1stico con una campa\u00f1a llamada \"Piensa Fuera de la Botella\". Esta campa\u00f1a incluy\u00f3 compartir estad\u00edsticas sobre el agua embotellada mediante se\u00f1ales informativas en forma de gotas de agua colocadas alrededor de la escuela, una prueba de sabor entre agua embotellada y agua de grifo, y la venta de botellas de agua de acero inoxidable con la mascota de la escuela.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Los estudiantes y la maestra Jean Bruffee en la Escuela Regional Hawlemont en Charlemont han estado trabajando en compostaje y reducci\u00f3n de residuos. En la Escuela Secundaria Agawam en Agawam, los estudiantes de 7\u00ba grado dise\u00f1aron y plantaron un jard\u00edn que ahora est\u00e1 siendo utilizado por otras clases para ense\u00f1ar ciencias y estudios sociales. Los estudiantes tambi\u00e9n completaron el programa Earth Odyssey del McAuliffe Learning Center y escribieron a su superintendente para abogar por recaudar fondos para comprar terrenos en la selva tropical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Escuela Primaria Whately, Whately, MA<\/span><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

La Escuela Primaria Whately ha estado reciclando y compostando durante a\u00f1os. Amy Donovan, del Distrito de Residuos S\u00f3lidos de Franklin, visita regularmente la escuela para educar a los estudiantes, maestros y administradores sobre las 5 R\u2019s (Reducir, Reutilizar, Reciclar, Reducir, Compostar). El director Peter Crisafulli informa que los estudiantes de 6\u00ba grado recolectan el reciclaje de toda la escuela cada semana y lo cargan en 15 carritos de reciclaje. La cafeter\u00eda tambi\u00e9n llena un contenedor de 64 galones con restos de comida, que la granja Bear Path recoge y composta. La escuela compra compost terminado de Bear Path para usarlo en los jardines escolares. Los productos frescos del jard\u00edn se utilizan en la excelente barra de ensaladas de la escuela, \u00a1cerrando el ciclo!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Escuela Primaria Marion E Zeh, Northborough, MA<\/span><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

La Escuela Primaria Marion E Zeh y la voluntaria Selvi Oyola en Northborough instalaron recientemente un compostador New Age que recibieron de The Green Team, siguiendo un video instructivo en nuestro sitio web. La foto a continuaci\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n muestra dos contenedores m\u00e1s peque\u00f1os que usaban anteriormente, pero que no ten\u00edan suficiente capacidad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Academia Intermedia STEM, Springfield, MA<\/span><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Rick Haggarty, un maestro de la Academia Intermedia STEM en Springfield, nos actualiz\u00f3 sobre el reciclaje y compostaje en su escuela, inform\u00e1ndonos que los estudiantes participan en un Comit\u00e9 de Reciclaje que se re\u00fane semanalmente. \u00a1El Club de Jardiner\u00eda del Green Team de la Escuela Primaria Leroy Wood en Fairhaven ha estado ocupado! Creado por Kimberly Katz y Martha Plummer, este club ha registrado a 68 estudiantes y 20 voluntarios entre los padres. Han plantado bulbos alrededor del edificio escolar e instalado nuevas camas de jard\u00edn que plantar\u00e1n en primavera. Tambi\u00e9n consiguieron financiamiento a trav\u00e9s de DonorsChoose.org para un nuevo invernadero. Durante el invierno planean explorar plantas, reciclaje y compostaje.
